Our research group & partners have over 20 years of model development. Most of our research projects have an environmental focus, particularly problems arising in the petroleum industry and other natural resource industries. Significant interest and activity of our group centers on effective cementing of wells. Our 2D models have been used in most 2D simulator in commercial use.
Current Projects

Well integrity Engineering Canada 2030
Funded by NSERC, we partnered with Sanjel Energy Services, and Geonomic Technologies to develop an oil and gas well cementing software. The software will incorporate our codes and models that we’ve developed over the last 20 years. Our intent is to deliver a high quality physical simulation tool to Canadian stakeholders for free. Potentially, we will couple with consulting service long term. If you are interested in testing our software once it is released, please contact us.

Towards Net-Zero Emissions: Mechanics, Processes and Materials to Support Risk-Based Well Decommissioning
The goal of this partnership is to develop and deliver science-based knowledge to support engineering decisions on well integrity and abandonment. The project is lead by Prof. Frigaard, Prof. Taghavi in Laval University and Prof. Karimfazli in Concordia, in partnership with the Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC). It is funded by NSERC and PTAC.
Want to work with us?
If you work for the industry and have a problem involving yield stress fluids, whether of industrial, biological, geophysical, or other origin, contact us to discuss if we can collaborate. Industrial problems that are not suitable for academic research may be dealt with via consultancy.
